The film brings the viewers on an adventure within the human body. The cinematography in the film is well crafted to give the viewer the feeling of being inside the human body by demonstrat...

Hello Fellow Bloggers,  This w eek's lectures exposed us to how biotechnology has manifested itself in art and created a modern platform for discovery. The dissection of the body as a medium of art has encouraged artists to explain the body form in detail, according to Vesna Part 1 lecture. I thought it was a fascinating take when she brought in artist Orlan, who has used plastic surgery as a medium of art, influenced by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci. Vesna states that the artist Orlan is put in a medical professional setting as physicians conduct plastic surgery on her and that she is influenced by artist body physiques. Almost everything that struck me was the artist Orlan's use of past images of the Mona Lisa or popular paintings to create parts of her body, such as her face and lips. The technique of plastic surgery is then used to offer the body shape that has been modeled by sculpture. link of image: https://www.google.com/searchq=plastic+surgery&safe=active...

Hello Fellow Bruins,  Blog post 3 When considering industrialization and the concept of the manufacturing line as defined by Professor. Vesna, it produced more than just a modern way of life. We will begin to see how man evolved into a machine for civilization, merely functioning to accomplish the end result. Men became overworked after the Industrial Revolution, which leads us to the inventions in emerging technology explored in class. Nikola Tesla made it possible for modern innovations like wireless communication to society that would link societies across time and space which even today has an impact on the way we communicate and operate. Today, we have access to emerging technology such as wireless communications and touch screen iPhones, which are fuelled by industrialization processes such as assembly lines, which deliver goods at high rates. link to image: https://www.historycrunch.com/assembly-line-man...

Week 2 Hello Fellow Bloggers, It was fascinating to see how math has inspired science and art in so many different ways this week. Many times, we see math and science as rival factions, but the viewer starts to see the link between the two. Vesna discussed in this week's lecture how each one is interrelated in the way that math has developed values and proportions for the eye to experience through time and space. Mathematics is the conceptual analysis of relations, configurations, and measurements. Math, like art and science, is an imaginative language that provides an interpretation of objects and pr...

WEEK 1: TWO CULTURES Welcome fellow bloggers,    Vesna and Snow view the two realms of science and art, as two cultures divided by perceptions and assumptions of each other's worlds that are subsequently entrenched and repeated across institutions. It's fascinating to see Vesna talk of a bridge between the two cultures; this "bridge" can only be sought by changing our paradigms regarding them. When it comes to art and science, we don't have to think of them as two different parts of the brain; "there is no left or right brain viewpoint" that determines whether a person is more imaginative or linear. There is a middle ground that allows art and science to coexist. Especially in today's world, where artists are using techno...
